An English Report

The English teacher ordered from us a report contains of one page about a subject, he suggested to write about figures but I didn't! I wrote about Harvard University because it is really deserves my words and it is a great university and I respect John Harvard for his creation for this fantastic university. the following is my report:

About:
Harvard is a private university located in Cambridge, US. It was incorporated as the best university around the world according to Times newspaper. It is also a member of the Ivy League. Harvard is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States and currently comprises ten separate academic units.
It was established in 1636. Initially called "New College", after that it was renamed “Harvard College” in March 13, 1636. it was named after John Harvard.

History:
A lot of students from Harvard got prizes from all over the world. Seven presidents of the United States have graduated from Harvard, including the two presidents John F. Kennedy and Barrack Obama.

Academics:
Harvard today has nine different sections. Listed below:
School of Arts and Sciences
Medical school
School of Dental Medicine

It’s competing other universities like Yale University and Stanford University.

  1. Okay okay.. I will comment.. I read your report and I can see where you decided to write for yourself.. You have few mistakes, but I'll leave that for your teacher :)

Harvard, for us, is a mere dream.. Lucky are those who get in, and luckier those who graduate! and if anything, Iraqis are NOT LUCKY!

  2. Hi Najma.. again :)

Thanks for your comment.. Do I have mistakes? really? the teacher didn't see it yet.. maybe I can figure out what they are and edit them.
And about Harvard, it's too painful to talk about!
I become so happy and so disappointed when I remember Harvard.
The Iraqis, if we didn't get Harvard, of course we have a (plan B) which is Stanford or Yale!
What do you think? come on, let's have some HOPE!

  3. Okay, I'll show you where I found mistakes:
--Seven presidents of the United States were graduated from Harvard, in clouding the two presidents John F. Kennedy and Barrack Obama.

"were graduated" is a passive voice.. it's not suitable here! It should be "have graduated".. also, "in clouding" should be "including".

--It’s competes other universities like Yale University and Stanford University.

:It's" is followed by "-ing".. it is better to say "it competes".

--Most of Nobel prize winners and in all different sections were graduated from Harvard as well as other prizes.
Harvard throw the years becomes very famous and hard to get.

also "were graduated" is wrong.. and "throw" should be "through"..

And hope you can have.. GOOD LUCK THEN!
